DCI Luther

Luther illustration, personal work.

Mixed up the production method a little bit with this one... I might re-visit this image in the future... at the very least Luther as a muse...

update: tweaked the image a bit, and cropped to a more focused portrait

Hylian Samurai

I needed something new to do...

I have recently been wondering what possibilites could arise if LoZ was changed up a bit... if it wasnt THE SAME game all over again. Don't get me wrong, I love LoZ. But Zelda has forgotton to innovate in its own world - giving weapons new abilities doesnt really make a big enough change, what is needed is a change in the anrrative.

I decided a samurai skew was in order - it might seem a little obvious, but it was that or more futuristic and I didnt fancy doing a FF7-inspired Link just yet.

Anyway, I decided I would try and get down the military uniform for Hyrule and go from there. I have plans for Link and Ganon already, who will be coming in due course, but for now enjoy this gentleman.

BatB update 2 (tonight)

BatB update

So, I am making a little progress with the Beauty and the Beast work-ups. I want some more work for the portfolio, so these should go nicely.

I decided to do a little colour trial this evening, and it came out pretty good... also made me commit and adjust the size of beast for this picture. Bigger is better.

Because I was annoyed at work today.

I did not do a degree course to spend the rest of my life in retail.
I did a degree course to further myself artistically, to become a better person and to get a career in something I have a passion for.

returning to: Shaun of the Dead

So yeah, I had a play with the design a little more... not much changed, just making sure I limit myself to 6 colours for shirt printing - whilst there are a couple of layers set to 50% opacity, this is because when I do create the final I will be playing with screentone / ziptone to create extra colours...

The background colour will also help me when making the final design, so I decided to do this bunch of bg colour samples. la la la

Monsters and Poppys

Final submission for the monster poster...

Final submission for the Futures quote project thing I did...

Pop3

Final... unless I notice anything wrong with it...

Pop2

So. I was not that happy with the first draft... I feel better with these working finals, though it would have been nicer if the view was at a lower angle...

re-arranged

Update: Monster Mash

Thought I would choose something a little more interesting than the invisible man. I remember there was a rule where Chtulhu being featured makes you win, right?

Update:

Also playing with colour.

Monster Mash

It was a graveyard smash.

Neil Gaiman is holding a mini competition to design a poster which could end up in bookshops across the land to advertise buying / giving books at halloween. Its called All Hallows Read.

So, I collected all the roughs up in to one image - I was originally thinking of having one kid sitting down in the bottom 'strip' and having a monster be situated in the background, possible with a quote to back up the image - but then I hit a mini wall. I originally intended to have a cute kid in the foreground reading some horror books - horror books which are questionable reading for young kids ofc. My original designs were making a link between the kid reading the book which was pictured in the background - this bothered me, so I had to think of a workaround.

I then tried more of a 'spooked by the book' approach in the second image, but I think I have settled on the third image - its a bit more of a 'wonder' image than a 'scary' image, though I think that works better here - it re-inforces the idea that books are wonderous things, and doesnt worry me about limiting the audience.

Hope that made sense.

Just because...

But is it Commercially Viable?

But is it commercially viable?
Can we monetise it?
Is it a seasonal or evergreen product?
Will this really revolutionize the transport industry?

Attack The Block - Semi-final

Hmm, this might be a hassle to print on a shirt. I think the fade would need to be done as a gradient if it were to ever be printable. Also still not too sure if the text is clear enough - I think on the thumbnail its obvious, but when the image is printed larger its a lot more difficult to tell. Also, the K in Block should be re-done.
